charlie’s Nyonya Sambal Chilli Dried Prawns is a traditional Pernakan side dish. At Nyonya meals it usually accompanies & compliments an entree or main dish or sometimes eaten on its own with cucumber, salads or fruits like raw pineapple & tomatoes. As such it is more than a condiment.
However, due to the fusion culture in food consumption welcomed by Malaysians these days, this sambal side dish can be eaten on buttered sandwiches with cucumber & salads. Some even us it to add flavour & ‘zing’ to fried noodles, rice & even chee cheong fun. Lately some customers spread it on roti canai & cook vegetables like lady’s fingers, cabbage & etc.
Needless to say, it has been eaten with nasi lemak & white rice during mealtimes. In short, it can be eaten any time of the day as it is indeed a deliciously versatile side dish found on our dining table.
Dried prawns, Onions, Sugar, Belacan, Salt, Lemon Grass, Dried Chilli, Oil & Water.
Store in fridge. Once opened, keep in refrigeration & use within 21 days. Scoop using clean & dry spoon.
